Billings is off the field

He took a bad tumble on the boundary rope while attempting to avoid what looked like a certain boundary. And in the process, Billings has hurt himself. Looks like he has hurt his shoulder quite badly and he goes off the field now. England will hope it's not too serious.

Massive wicket

Kohli is so disappointed. This was there to be hit as Wood bowls one pacy delivery on the pads and Kohli just flicks it only to find the fielder at the deep. He departs for 56. Woah! Moeen Ali has dropped Dhawan and this could cost them big time. Dhawan rocks back and pulls Rashid. Moeen at the boundary appeared to take a running catch but he ended up spilling it. Dhawan showing urgency in his approach.

Shikhar survives

England challenges the on-field lbw call against Dhawan here. He attempts a sweep again but fails to connect the ball. Replays confirm that the ball would have clipped the stumps. He survives.

He reaches the landmark with a slog sweep that goes all the way. Dhawan realises the need to get going and takes on Rashid successfully. This has been a pretty good innings but he knows he has to move on here.

Stokes ends opening stand

England wanted that wicket badly since the partnership slowly started to look threatening. Rohit in particular looked set to take on the bowling attack and now he departs. He would be kicking himself though considering the manner of the display. Stokes bowls one short and wide and Rohit only manages an edge in his attempt to play the cut. Kohli walks to the crease now.

50-run stand

Another half-century partnership between these two. They have had so many over the years and no wonder Virat kept the faith in this pair ahead of the series. It has taken them 12.5 overs so we can expect them to shift gears soon.
